Terms and Conditions

The Thank a Teacher campaign is only open to schools in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.  If you send a card (printed or digital) outside of this geographical area your card will not be sent. 

The Thank a Teacher campaign recognises ALL staff working in UK early years, schools and colleges; school leaders, teachers, teaching assistants, and all support staff such as lunchtime supervisors, caretakers and cleaners currently working in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland whether state maintained or independent. This includes staff working in online schools and those involved in School-centred Initial Training (SCITT) programmes. The eligibility for the Pearson National Teaching Awards is subject to the award category eligibility criteria which is subject to change

There is no limit to the number of thank yous an individual can submit.

Details of the thank you will be sent to the Headteacher / Deputy Head of the person thanked unless you request to remain anonymous on the form.

Thank yous sent by email will be sent directly to the email address provided. If no email is provided emails will be sent to the school office and/or Headteacher to forward.

The Teaching Awards will not pass on your details to anyone making an enquiry about the person thanked. Any enquiries of this nature will be directed to the Headteacher / Deputy Head at the school at whose discretion this information will be disclosed.

The term ‘person thanked’ refers to a head, deputy head, teacher, teaching assistant, support staff, school team, lecturer or FE team thanked.

The Teaching Awards Trust cannot accept posthumous thank yous or thank yous for retired practitioners no longer working in schools.

If the person thanked moves schools prior to receiving their thank you card, it will be the responsibility of the school to which the card was sent to forward on the thank you card.

The Teaching Awards shall reject any thank you messages deemed inappropriate.

Individuals may write as many thank yous as they wish provided each one is submitted online.

The person thanked and the person writing the thank you message give all consents necessary for The Teaching Awards to produce publicity material based on the thank you message and agree to do so without financial reward.

Submitting a thank you to The Teaching Awards is deemed acceptance of these rules and agreement to be bound by them. By agreeing to these Terms and Conditions, you also agree to our general website terms and conditions.

The Teaching Awards Trust reserves the right to change these terms and conditions at any time by posting changes online.

Postcard Terms & Conditions

We will do all we can to ensure you have an enjoyable Thank a Teacher experience, and that you are completely happy with your digital card and printed version. If you are a minor please make sure you have an adult present with you if you are making a payment.

1.2 How we may contact you

We may contact you in connection with the order placed with us.  We may also contact you to promote products or services similar to those we have provided to you. We will do so writing to you at the email address you provided to us in your order.  If we contact you for marketing purposes, we will give you an opportunity to opt out from future marketing communications.

2. ORDERING FROM Thank a Teacher

2.1 How to place an order

You can place an order for a printed version of your digital e-card once you have submitted your e-card through www.thankateacher.co.uk. Once the orders are placed they will be moderated so please ensure that the card message does not include offensive or inappropriate language (see 3.4 below) and that the recipient details and address are correct.

2.2 If we cannot accept your order

There may be circumstances in which we are unable to accept your order. Orders will be rejected if they contravene the content rules at 3.4 below or if the information you have provided is incorrect. If this is the case, we will inform you of this using the email address you provided. Please note that as a charity we are unable to offer refunds.


3.1 The images of the products on our website are for illustrative purposes only. Although we have made every effort to display the colours accurately, your product may vary slightly from those images.

3.2 The product includes personalised content selected by you. It is up to you to ensure the content you have contributed is correct (for example the content is correctly spelt).

Please double-check your order on screen and your acknowledgement email carefully to check that all the details are correct. It is your responsibility to ensure that your recipient’s name and school address is correct.

3.4 Content Rules

We moderate content on cards to ensure that cards reflect the spirit of gratitude that the campaign promotes.

We do not send cards that contain;

  • offensive, abusive, threatening or defamatory language, that might cause needless annoyance, inconvenience, or needless anxiety to any person
  • includes personal data about another person, such as their address, phone number, or email address, except with the written approval of that person;
  • is pornographic, obscene, indecent or offensive, has sexual connotations or promotes sexually explicit material;
  • promotes discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age, is inflammatory or that may incite hatred or violence against any person or group;
  • may harass, upset, embarrass or alarm any person;
  • may be used to bully, insult, intimidate or humiliate any person;
  • encourages, promotes or provides instructions for deliberate self-harm;
  • encourages, promotes or provides instructions for suicide;
  • encourages, promotes or provides instructions for an eating disorder or behaviours associated with an eating disorder;
  • gives the impression that it originates from or has been approved by us, our partners and patrons, whether by reference to our/their name or otherwise;
  • may violate the integrity and reputation of our name, and the names of our partners and licensors;
  • advocates, promotes or assists any unlawful act;
  • includes or makes reference to illegal drugs; or
  • makes reference to politicians’ names and/or political statements.

We do not send cards which, in our reasonable opinion, abuse the functionality of our website, or do not respect the goals and spirit of the Thank a Teacher campaign, such as repeated messages to the same recipient.

We exclude our liability for all action we may take in response to breaches of the content rules or these terms and conditions. The actions we may take are not limited to those described above, and we may take any other action we reasonably deem appropriate.


4.1 Where to find the price for the product

The price of the product (which includes VAT) will be the price indicated on the order pages when you placed your order. We take all reasonable care to ensure that the price of the product advised to you is correct.

4.2 Payment and VAT Invoice

You can pay for your products using the payment method which we make available to you at the time of your order.

Should you require a full VAT invoice you can request this via our contact form here. Please allow up to 28 working days for the full VAT invoice to be sent.

We use third party services to process payments. Please refer to the terms and conditions of payment which are provided by a link at the time of placing the order for the print card.  We accept no liability for any third party services.


5.1 General information

The dispatch date is the date that we send the item, not the date that it is delivered.

It is your responsibility to ensure that the postal information you input for delivery is correct.

Errors in the address may cause unnecessary delay and/or result in unsuccessful delivery of your items. You can check that you have the correct UK postcode by using the Royal Mail’s handy postcode finder available at www.royalmail.com/find-a-postcode. Please note we are not responsible for the accuracy of the Royal Mail’s postcode finder.

5.2 Delivery costs

The price of the printed card on our website includes delivery costs.  We reserve the right to change the delivery costs at any time.

5.3 Estimated delivery times

Products are delivered by Royal Mail (or another third-party carrier from time to time). The cards will be delivered to UK addresses only.

5.4 We are not responsible for delays outside our control

If the cards are delayed by an event outside our control, then we will contact you as soon as possible to let you know and we will take steps to minimise the effect of the delay. We will be unable to offer any refunds.

5.5 If the school does not deliver to recipient

Please note that that cards will be delivered to the recipient’s school address. We cannot take responsibility for internal school delivery delays or delivery failure.

5.6 What will happen if you do not give required information to us

We may need certain information from you so that we can deliver the cards, for example, the delivery address. Failure to provide this information will result in the card being undelivered. We cannot issue refunds for orders completed without the necessary delivery information.

5.15 Delivery outside the UK

We will not deliver any Thank a Teacher cards to addresses outside the UK


If you have questions or are unhappy with your order, please contact us on [email protected]. You will need to quote the email address you have registered and the details of the problem with the order.

We aim to acknowledge any complaint within 7 working days and will do our best to resolve it within 28 days. We may ask you to take a photograph of the product to help us communicate with our suppliers and to correct any future problems.

As a small charity, we are unable to give refunds on our printed cards. If this is a concern for you, we would suggest you select our traditional option of sending a free ecard instead.
