Budding School Reporter Competition!

Want to be published in a magazine read by millions? AND have work experience with a real-life Editor?

Thanks to our friends at TES – the national educational magazine with readers across the globe  – we’re offering one lucky competition winner the chance to have their work published online plus a day shadowing Jon Severs, Editor at the magazine, to see first-hand what a day in the life of a leading editor looks like.

We are looking for aspiring journalists to write a story on one of the following topics:

  • Put together a punchy, factual, and positive piece which covers everything that your school is organising for Thank a Teacher Day, why your school considers saying ‘Thank You’ to school staff to be so important, and how teachers are responding to the plans. We want to get a real sense of what it feels like to be at the school and to be able to visualise the activities that you’re describing. It should feature a detailed overview of how your school is planning to celebrate Thank a Teacher Day.
  • Write a short comment piece about why we should thank teachers, and your thoughts on the work that teachers did over the lockdown, and continue to do now they’re back in school. You could always include interviews with teachers, and their own thoughts on lockdown, within that piece.

Competition entries should be 650 words long and the finalists will be judged by the editorial team at TES with the winner’s article being published online.
